Cooperative Private Divorce
A group of 20 lawyers, judges, mediators, mental-health professionals, former Minnesota legislators, and lay-people have been meeting twice a month for over two years conceptualizing and fine-tuning the Cooperative Private Divorce process.
We believe in the capacity of most people to divorce with respect and fairness if they are supported in that direction.
In our imperfect world, we know that some people will choose to fight, intimidate, or otherwise not participate in good faith in the divorce process. With both of these realities in mind, we aim to greatly increase the proportion of people who divorce peacefully and protect against the worst excesses of those who do not.
